For more than 125 years later, as a City of Memphis agency, the Memphis Public Libraries has 18 locations, And a variety of outreach services strategically located to serve a population of nearly 650,000 people, reflecting the diversity of Memphis.
We serve lifelong learners and encourage young readers. We serve newcomers wishing to improve their English language skills and small business owners wishing to grow what they have built.
However, we would not be able to serve the Memphis community without our volunteers. Our volunteers serve as the bloodline to our programs and the sustainability of our libraries. The Memphis Public Libraries has various volunteer opportunities that align with your skills and interest. Become a Volunteer Today.
Become A Friend!
Friends of the Library are a diverse group of citizens who are changing Memphis – one book at a time! As a nonprofit, charitable organization supporting Memphis Public Libraries, we believe that knowledge is power. Since 1962, we have worked to uplift the Library System through giving, volunteerism, financial support, and helping to increase literacy citywide.
This same mission lives on today!
