Memphis Public Libraries welcomes visits by local school and classroom groups to experience our award-winning libraries. We are firm believers children who are introduced to their local libraries are more likely to become regular library users in the future. All groups requesting a tour must submit their request at least two weeks prior to your planned visit. Providing notice will allow us to provide your students with a great learning experience.
Tours are available MONDAY-THURSDAY for mornings (10:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and afternoons (1:00 PM – 2:30 PM). Once the tour has been scheduled, you will receive a written notice regarding your tour date. If a tour group must cancel, notification should be given at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled tour date. Failure to do so may result in the denial of future tour requests.
We can accommodate groups of 8, but not exceeding 80 participants. All groups with 20 or more participants will be separated into smaller groups during the tour. There must be a least one adult chaperone for school groups per 10 students.
